SBGi’s 18 Lesson MMA Intro Curriculum

  1. Postures: standup, clinch, single neck tie and ear drill for footwork and distance.
  2. Jap and cross: with lots of proper footwork and distance drills.
  3. Level change and sprawling: with the J&C and lots of footwork.
  4. Pummeling basic: looking for the bodylock with proper bodylock takedown.
  5. Double neck tie: proper grips, pummeling and knees.
  6. High single: added into the mix of the other mitt drills.
  7. The proper double leg: also taught with a sprawl.
  8. Closed guard for MMA: line drill, pull, sit up, airplane and grabs.
  9. Spider guard MMA series: with the two feeds for a triangle.
  10. Spider guard MMA series: add the proper way to stand up.
  11. Escapes from bottom MMA series: frames, upa, shrimp and frame.
  12. Escapes from bottom MMA series: add stand up from the guard.
  13. MMA crossides top: hold, hit and mount.
  14. MMA mount striking and escaping: emphasis on postures.
  15. MMA guard top: hitting from a good base and avoiding subs.
  16. Rickson’s kick from bottom drill: use to stand up.
  17. Clinch of the cage/wall: emphasis on turning with the underhook, hips in and out and the proper times.
  18. Rear kick and teep: emphasis on form and timing.
